The Welcome Watch! |
Welcome to The Watch Pocket. I created this site mainly for fun, but at the same time to share my hobby of horology, which, to date, is the only hobby that has really stuck with me for an extended number of years. At first I got interested in the mechanics of American pocket watches and learned how to do simple repairs. Back then I didn't really care about collecting per se, so I would buy a watch, clean it up, repair it to the best of my ability, then sell it and move on to something else. Then, about 5 years ago, I bought a Waltham Model 83 Non-Magnetic. I really thought it was beautiful so I posted a picture of it on the NAWCC Message Board. One of the regulars there saw it, made a nice comment about it, and noted that it still had it's white hairspring. To be honest, I noticed the hairspring was white when I cleaned it, but I mainly bought the watch for its looks and I didn't really care about the color of the hairspring. However, after his comment I started reading a little about Non-Magnetic watches and got interested (my wife calls it hooked but she's wrong). I still have that watch, but now I have a few more, so I guess that officially makes me a collector! I still sell watches, parts, etc., that I don't need or do not fit into my collection. I will try to keep that stuff on my for sale page so have a look around and let me know if you see something you can't live without. But again, this site is mainly for fun, so please feel free to just browse around as much as you like and come back often because I hope to keep expanding it as I go. |
